Whether you want to share memories with friends and family or review footage for performance insights, having access to high-quality video is a key part of the GameChanger experience. But we also know that getting this video is tricky. Basketball and hockey are fast, and as players sprint or skate up and down, recording video can be a full-time job that makes it tough to actually enjoy the game.
Enter AutoStream. AutoStream allows the streamer to set up a stationary device that will use machine learning to automatically follow the back-and-forth action on the court. Using AutoStream, parents can set up their device on a tripod and walk away. You can learn more about this feature over on our product blog
AutoStream is only available for live streams on basketball or hockey teams with iOS devices at this time. We plan to add AutoStream to Android devices at a later time.
If you are using an Android device or an external camera, or you simply wish to capture the action of your basketball or hockey game manually, you will select manual for your live stream.
You can learn how to manually stream your game here: Manual Livestream Basketball
Using AutoStream
- Select your basketball or hockey team.
- Navigate to the Schedule tab and select the event you wish to stream.
- Tap the Go Live button.
- Select This device as the streaming video source. (AutoStream is currently not supported for external cameras)
- Select your Video Mode that is appropriate for your event.
- Select AutoStream as your Pan & zoom mode.
- Select the appropriate Video quality and Audience permissions appropriate for your stream before continuing to the Video Preview.
-
After you've selected AutoStream, you will be asked to outline the court boundaries. This will help the AutoStream feature better track the action for you.
If you are AutoStreaming for a Hockey team, you will not need to define the boundaries. Just ensure that your camera view captures the full rink.
Once you've completed this step, you're ready to start your broadcast! Look forward to your stream automatically panning back and forth to follow the action.
For best results with AutoStream, we recommend mounting your device to a tripod or otherwise securing it in place. Make sure that your device is in a position that has the entire court in view.
If you need to move the recording device for any reason, you will need to end the live stream and set the court/rink boundaries again.
